To our New Directions Career Center family,
These past few months have challenged all of us as we’ve worked to manage our health, our work, our families and our overall well-being. But in the past few weeks the horrific deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, as well as the injustice done to Christian Cooper, among others, are a stark reminder that many in our community are also facing pain and fear of injustice as Black Americans.
It is hard to put into words the sadness and frustration we feel as we witness a divided community and to see meaningful and peaceful protests met with violence. We want you to know that New Directions believes in the importance of peace, dignity and equality.
Recently we have connected with and heard from many of our colleagues, clients and partners who have shared with us their very personal stories, experiences and challenges as Black Americans. We want to let our black community know: we are here for you, we support you and we will continue to work to eliminate injustice and racism. It is core to what we believe and who we are.
As an organization, we will continue to evaluate our programs and practices to promote equity and inclusion. We will engage our black and brown sisters in our work and continue to support our mission to uplift and empower all women to achieve and maintain self-sufficiency.

New Directions is proud to be one of the growing list of Columbus business and organization leaders asserted in an open letter to Columbus City Council and we fervently believe that racism is a public health crisis. We pledge to partner with local community leaders to create change.
New Directions Career Center is 100 percent committed to our values of fairness and driving continued understanding and change. Like many things we undertake, we will make mistakes, learn together and adapt — we may not be perfect, but we are purposeful. We are proud of the work we have done and understand there is so much more to do. Please join us in this continued journey.
